Rotary Presentation Showcases Organization Offering Death Pre-Arrangement Services

inda Cooper from the 24 Hour Association will be the next guest at the Rotary Midday Club

There are few people, if any, who find thinking about their own demise comforting.

Let’s face it, it’s not a subject we really want to talk about. Nonetheless, we all know that our days on this earth are limited and that it behooves us to plan for our passing. For expats living in San Miguel de Allende, there is a way to plan ahead for that eventuality and to have help and support in dealing with the particulars of Mexican law pertaining to funerals and burials.

The 24-Hour Association, founded in 1965, provides pre-arrangement services to the expat community. It is a nonprofit, legally registered Mexican asociación civil, providing a prepaid plan of cremation and burial services that fully comply with Mexican law. Since its humble beginnings in 1965, when Navy Admiral Alex Charlton sent out a short memo to members of the foreign community, the association has grown to around 500 members. In 1999, the association decided it was in its best interests to be in full compliance with Mexican law. It duly registered as a Mexican nonprofit civil association.

Join the Midday Club of San Miguel de Allende on Tuesday, March 12, 9am, for a presentation by the association’s executive director, Linda Cooper. This presentation was originally planned for last October but had to be rescheduled. Please join us at the Cafeteria Sanmiguelessen, located next to the yellow caboose on Sterling Dickinson. Admission is free, plus there is an optional breakfast for 100 pesos. There is plenty of nearby parking too!

Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Ivar Schacke at
