Rotary Midday to Hold a Superbowl Party to Fight Polio

By Skip Essick

Help out a super cause on Superbowl Sunday: the fight against polio is the focus of the Midday Rotary Club’s annual Superbowl Party, happening this year at Tacos el Pata restaurant.

You won’t miss any of the action as it plays out on the giant-screen TVs throughout the restaurant. Superbowl LIII promises to be one of the most exciting games in recent memory. The New England Patriots will play the Los Angeles Rams for the Lombardi Trophy on February 3 in Atlanta.

The Patriots outlasted the Chiefs 37-31 in overtime to win the AFC championship in Kansas City. The Rams rallied past the Saints 26-23 in overtime to win the NFC championship in New Orleans. It will be the fourth Super Bowl appearance for the Rams and their first since 2002 when they lost to the underdog Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. Brady and New England are in the big game for the third straight year and for the fifth time in the last eight.

Join Midday Rotary of San Miguel de Allende for Superbowl LIII at one of our town’s newest sports-themed restaurants, Tacos el Pata.

You can get advance tickets from any Midday Rotary member or by emailing Tickets are 500 pesos in advance or 600 pesos at the door. Your ticket includes dinner and one large beer or soft drink. Plus, there will be raffle prizes and football squares available. Doors open at 4:30pm. This event benefits Polio Plus, Rotary’s long-term commitment to eradicating polio worldwide.
