Dear Editor:

Despite all of the rhetoric about a moratorium on construction and illegal construction in San Miguel de Allende, construction, especially illegal construction, continues unabated.

Over the past five months, I have personally reported construction of three buildings without construction permits to the Dirección de Desarrollo Urbano y Ordenamiento Territorial. With each report I provided pictures of all sides of the buildings to show that no work permit was displayed. Each report also contained the address and a map of the location. So far, none of these buildings under construction have been suspended. Within the past 30 days, I have observed two more buildings under construction without permits.

This leads me to believe the city administration, for whatever reasons, does not want to address this problem.

Please withhold my name if you publish this.
