Dear Editor:

On Thursday, January 3, two men posing as maintenance workers in the men’s washroom at La Comer robbed me of a significant amount of money. They used the old trick of splashing sauce on my shirt and then solicitously helping me to clean up. Much to my embarrassment, I did not suspect foul play. My wife and I did our shopping, and when I reached into my pants front pocket to pay my more than 5,000-peso bill, my money, credit card, and bank card were gone. My wife and I reported the incident to the head of security at La Comer. He assured us that he would report the incident to the police. We left our contact information but have heard nothing more from neither the store nor the police. We are saddened to have this escalation of crime in San Miguel, our much-loved winter home of 12 years.
