On December 22nd, author Sandra Cisneros presented her first literary work written in English and Spanish at Camino Silvestre’s shop on calle Correo. The short story, Puro Amor, is the story of a famous Mexican couple and how their home and their lives were filled with the love of pets.

Guest actress, cabaret artist, and Mexican singer-songwriter Astrid Hadad—who along with Sandra Cisneros read a part of Puro Amor—put on a performance. At the end of the reading, for an encore, Hadad interpreted two of her songs.

After the presentation, people enjoyed cocktails and snacks. Many spectators took advantage to buy a copy of Cisneros’s books, including Have You Seen Marie? Caramelo, and The House on Mango Street, which she autographed. Those who purchased Cisneros’s book also were allowed to participate in a book signing and allowed to chat with the author.

Some of Cisneros’s books are still on sale at Camino Silvestre stores on Correo 43 and Zacateros 46.
