On December 16, Ana Thiel, a renowned artist from San Miguel, presented some of her work that just finished a tour of Europe.

Thiel has participated in local exhibitions, but she has also presented her work in group and individual exhibitions around Europe. On this occasion, she wanted to, for the first time, exhibit all her work in México.

After graduating with a degree in industrial design, Thiel began her career as a fine artist in glass, thanks to an engineer visiting her school who invited students to come see his blown-glass factory. Thiel describes this experience as “passion at first sight,” a passion that led her to where she is today.

She continues to learn about working with glass. In her house’s garden, she has an enormous workshop and big ovens where she can melt and work with glass. This is also where she keeps her works.

From the beginning of her career, Thiel has participated in collective work that over time became individual exhibitions. Those exhibitions have taken place in, among other countries, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, and France. Some of her work is already in museum collections in Europe, while others are in private collections. Each has a different inherent history. Ana likes to imprint something of her own experiences into each work. In each piece, we can observe vestiges of old factories, books, trees, rocks, and metal.

Every Thursday, from 3 to 5pm she has an open studio at Colegio Militar 1, in colonia Guadalupe. One can also see her work digitally on her website, anathiel.com
