Musical Tribute to Carlos Santana Takes the Stage at Peralta Theater

By Victor Monterrubio

The Ángela Peralta Theater will be filled with the sounds of “Oye Como Va” and “Black Magic Woman” on December 27, when a group of jazz musicians pays tribute to the music of Carlos Santana.

This production is in its fourth iteration. The last time this unforgettable show was staged in town, it completely sold out. Now, with new songs and new musicians, Sanmiguelenses again have the opportunity to enjoy this special mix of Latin rock and jazz sophistication.

Julian Arcos, on guitar, will represent the spirit of Santana himself. Yamil Vázquez will play keyboards and piano. Ruben Olvera, who has become the most solid bass player in San Miguel de Allende, will be on both electric and acoustic bass. And rounding out the ensemble will be Juan José Cardeneta Valencia on drums, Mario Alberto Torres and Víctor Monterrubio on percussion, and some surprise special guests.

Besides Santana’s most well-known songs, these performers will dig deep into the artist’s discography, doing their jazz renditions of lesser-known chestnuts like “Europa” and “Samba Pa Ti.” It’s bound to be a special night for all.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the music of a legend played by veteran musicians in a beautiful and unique setting.
