Lions Offering December Guided Trip to Puebla

By Janice Finch

The International Lions Club of San Miguel will be sponsoring a four-day trip to the city of Puebla on December 17–20.

Travelers will stay at the Hotel Colonial.

In the city of Puebla, the group will have the opportunity to visit the Museo Amparo, the Cathedral, the Santa Rosa former convent, and the Museo de Arte Popular Poblano. We will also stop at the Iglesia de la Compania, where supposedly an Asian princess is buried beneath the altar, and the Rosario Chapel. There will be plenty of time for shopping and looking for talavera.

We will also do a drive-through visit to the Africam—the African ecological park where more than 5,000 animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes, buffalo, deer, rhinoceros, and peacocks roam free in a natural setting. (Entrance fee for the park—232 pesos—is not covered in the cost of the trip, and please let us know in advance if you wish to go, as we get a special rate for a certain number in a group.) Find out more about this park by visiting their website:

On the way back, we will make a stop at the Baroque Museum.

The cost of the trip is 3,400 pesos each for double occupancy and 4,600 pesos for single occupancy, based on at least 35 participants. This includes first-class bus, hotel, breakfast, tips, a BYOB cocktail party with nibbles supplied by the Lions, and a donation to the Lions club, which gives glasses to the needy and does free diabetes testing. Reservations can be made by contacting us at
