Lecture Will Teach How To Transform Personal Grief at the Holidays

Transforming Personal Grief at the Holidays

Psychologist Dr Lyn Prashant FT. IGT. CMTI, Somatic Thanatologist. (a death, dying and bereavement specialist) will present at the Biblioteca a lecture on grief and dying.

Prashant (the founder of Degriefing: Integrative Grief Therapy) lives in San Miguel de Allende, counseling bereaved individuals and their families. She trains healthcare professionals, hospice workers, and mental health practitioners and consults internationally in México, the US and South Africa.

Prashant, a captivating and engaging speaker keynoted at the Mayo Clinic, Cape Town’s Holocaust Museum’s Nelson Mandela Center, UC Berkeley, the University of Arizona, and San Jose Behavioral Sciences, works with loss and trauma of any kind.

Her training in bereavement counseling and knowledge of somatic health care practices led her to develop a unique and successful approach to grief counseling called Degriefing. Unlike many existing approaches, Degriefing employs both verbal and physical methodologies to relieve an individual’s emotional distress, mental anguish, and physical discomfort.

Prashant, a Fellow in thanatology, is a well-respected member of ADEC (Association of Death Education and Counseling). She has worked for over three decades with clients, teaching them how to use integrative therapies to transform somatic (physical) grief and promoting mind-body-spirit integration.

Prashant hosts individual, private grief retreats (year-round) and offers international phone counseling. She states that “grief is the most available, untapped, emotional resource for personal and global transformation.”

Stephen and Ondrea Levine and Elisabeth Kubler-Ross endorse Prashant’s work.

This presentation will touch upon such topics as:

Normalizing the multifaceted impact of bereavement

Relationship between global and personal grief

Language and loss

Identifying types of losses

Somatic quick tips
