On November 29, Casa de la Noche will introduce San Miguel de Allende to unique designs created by some of the newest artists to the city’s art scene.

Cathy Taylor is an award-winning mixed-media artist and popular workshop instructor. Her water media artwork is a celebration of the patterns, textures, and color found in the natural world. Taylor is known worldwide for interpreting a subject in a variety of styles. From her colorful, detailed alphabetical designs to her whimsical collages and multidimensional abstracts, Taylor’s work is represented in museums, nature centers, and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. She is the author of the popular book Pigments of Your Imagination, Creating with Alcohol Inks.

Veronicka Koebach has had an extensive career designing clothing and jewelry as well as running her own decorative painting business for 28 years in Miami Beach. She moved to San Miguel only 15 months ago. Since arriving here, Koebach has been making jewelry, painting floor cloths, and now making imaginative and colorful dresses from scarves in her studio. She offers painting classes for people who just want to have fun.

The young jewelry makers of Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel (San Miguel’s School for Special Education) have been tutored over the past two years by well-known San Miguel jewelry designers David Godinez and Javier Bustos and the late mixed-media artist and designer Joe Miller. The school is a nonprofit institution whose mission is to ensure that all deaf Sanmiguelense children become literate, independent, and productive citizens who achieve life goals.

Each student has chosen to study in the school’s jewelry-making vocational training program, where they are preparing themselves for careers in the world outside of school. This is the school’s first-ever public event and a golden opportunity to purchase at very affordable prices a unique silver piece as a holiday gift for oneself or someone special.

Don’t miss this joyful and low-key affair, an opportunity to fill the senses with beauty and learn about this eclectic group of artists’ creations. The sale takes place in the flower-scented courtyard of Casa de la Noche.
