The following

The following is a letter that I wrote to Leticia Fernandez, President of Red Cross, SMA, MX after the October 9, 2018, charity gala at the Rosewood. Leticia has asked me to share this letter in Atención, which my husband and I are happy to do in support of this truly wonderful and much-needed organization. In the letter, I make references to “Geraldine” Zinat and “Alex” Alejandro Gutierrez, both of Red Cross SMA. Others were also so very helpful. This is the original letter, which I have chosen to send you without altering it by adding more names since it was sent to the Red Cross specifically. The “others” know who you are. Muchas Gracias!

Hola Leticia:

I want to thank all of you so very much, from the deepest of my heart, for all the people from Red Cross at the October 9 gala who responded and helped my husband.

My husband, Bob, had a seizure at our table, and because I’ve never seen him like this, I absolutely did not know what was going on.

Everyone jumped in. Alex got up immediately to get help. A doctor and aides were there right away. Geraldine came to me several times to give support and love. Everyone was absolutely amazing!! I can’t even begin to explain to you how much I appreciated everyone’s support and attention to his problem.

Alex helped Bob walk out to the car, which Bob does not remember, and came to our house the next day to check on him.

My husband is a stubborn man who refused to go to the hospital, but Alex, on his home visit the next day, convinced him of the importance of having tests, so Bob agreed to go the next morning.

We discovered that Bob has mild epilepsy. He’s now dedicated to taking his meds that prevent further episodes, and his doctor has given me the education as to how to deal with this if it ever occurs again.

My gratitude to all of you is beyond my ability to express, and my love for my husband is beyond my ability to express. The Red Cross SMA gave us much-, much-needed help in a desperate time, security in confirming Red Cross medical support here and also a tone of perseverance (Alex) to pursue the testing and knowledge of what was actually happening to my husband, and not allowing denial or laziness or ego to tamper with what’s going on!

Thank you, Leticia. The words sound so minimal to me, but I know that you know that there’s nothing more heartfelt than “gracias.”

Sincerely,

Bob and Moriah Sevenau
