For its second edition, hosts Myrna Camacho, Ángel Rosales, and Daniel Arenas made Entinta la Piel—a tattoo festival held August 24–26 at La Casona—not only a “scratching” festival but also a showcase for tattoo art.

This event, in its second year, had more acceptance and publicity on social networks than ever, thanks to its followers. In addition to growing in terms of shows, attendees, and the number of vendors, the festival saw more than 39 guest tattoo artists attending, including international, national, and local tattoo artists who are positioning themselves very well in the market, some of whom already have a full agenda for the rest of the year.

Attendees who came from Celaya, Querétaro, Mexico City, Guadalajara, or abroad   looking for a tattoo, were pleased at the depth of options available from some of the most highly visible tattoo artists in the world—among them Federico Ruiz, Ted Implanter from France, Getsy Torres, Santo Lobo or Lilian Raya. Each artist favors different styles, be it colorful, thick or thin lines, realism, traditional tattoos, or illustrations. Tattoos are about individual expression, and so these artists bring to the table a multitude of tattoo styles so that people can choose where to get their tattoos.

The tattoo machines started buzzing early at the festival, inking out everything from small and classic designs to portraits of a person, pet or artist to more complete and colorful designs. Some came only to show designs they have made while others came exclusively to fill their agenda for the three days. Some tattoo artists who came from other countries opted to stay beyond the festival’s three days to do tattoo commissions.

This ink-filled weekend also had its share of the perhaps unexpected—skateboarding shows, live graffiti, fire shows, body painting demonstrations, and modified-car shows.
