Shelter Skelter: A Story Telling Extravaganza!

Shelter Skelter

By David Johanssen

We’re all storytellers, and the stories we tell point to the heart of human nature. Come and enjoy a night of discovery and music with us as the professional and amateur storytellers of San Miguel de Allende share their personal stories.

Producer Leslie Beam, with a background in stand-up comedy and her San Francisco hit show “,” promises the tale-tellers will share personal and fictional tales of comedy, adventure, drama, even historical revisionism. With stories limited to no more than 10 minutes, the show will move fast, and live classical guitar promises to add a little class pre-show and serve as a gentler reminder to storytellers that their time’s up!

Friday, Aug 17, at 5pm: Shelter Skelter Storytelling Extravaganza. One night only! (SSSTE is not affiliated with the SMA Story Telling Festival.)

Friday, Aug 10 at 6pm: Bell Book and Candle. The film version of John Van Druten’s comedy stars James Stewart and Kim Novak. The ravishing Miss Novak plays Gillian Holroyd, a genuine, bona fide witch. Falling in love with publisher Sheperd Henderson, Gillian casts a spell on him, obliging him to dump his fiancée. The New Yorker says, “Novak makes bewitching impression… a charming bit of whimsy.” Jimmy Stewart is, as always, everyone’s lovable heartthrob!

Saturday, Aug 11 at 6pm: Leonard Cohen Tribute: Tower of Song. On the first anniversary of the great man’s passing, Shelter shares with you this tribute to an artist universally acknowledged as one of the greatest poets and songwriters ever. Participating artists in the 2017 music blowout include Elvis Costello, Lana Del Rey, Feist, Philip Glass, k.d. lang, Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, Damien Rice, Sting, Patrick Watson, and more. It’s a true pantheon of the greats to be enjoyed to their fullest on our big screen, wrapped in our surround-sound stereo!

Shelter Theater is an easy 10-minute walk down from the Jardín! See our calendar at for dates and online tickets. Find our logo on the Que Pasa map in the upper left-hand corner. We reserve the right to refuse service due to our limited handicapped access. Write for details.
