We Can Always Be Sure of Death and Taxes!

By Marjorie Burren

We all know the expression “the only thing we can be sure of is death and taxes.” We all pay attention to our taxes—paying them on time to avoid penalties and staying conscious of what we need to do to prepare. But do we prepare for death in the same way? Most of us try to ignore it, though we know it’s inevitable.

Please join us for a Playreading of The Outgoing Tide by Bruce Graham on Aug 8 and 9. This play deals with the topic of end-of-life decisions.

Peg and Gunner are living comfortably in retirement on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia—fishing, relaxing, and enjoying life. They are approaching the autumn of their years and trying to work out how best to live the years in front of them and prepare for the inevitable.

It is a funny and touching play about one family’s journey thru love, life, and what’s next, one that is extremely poignant and relevant for all of us.  The cast includes Marjorie Burren, Frank Simons, and Blu McElvain.

Performances are on August 8 and 9 at St Paul’s Church. Admission is 30 pesos.

Tickets will be sold at the door at 6:45pm each evening on a first come, first serve basis. All ticket holders must be present when the doors open at 7pm, or their seat may be resold. The play will begin at 7:30pm or when the house is filled.
