Summer White Party Coming to Fábrica La Aurora

By Edward Swift

On August 4, from 5–8pm, Fábrica La Aurora will celebrate its annual summer party. Everyone is invited to take out their summer whites and show them off while strolling through the galleries, studios, and shops. But keep in mind that white is not mandatory and you can be as colorful as you wish. Some of San Miguel de Allende’s most popular musical groups will serenade you upon arrival.

In celebration of this popular event, Pineda Covalin will offer a promotional gift with a minimum purchase of 3,500 pesos. The offer is good only for the hours of the party.

The Calderoni Gallery will premiere the San Miguel home decor design firm Enkasa Designs. The principal designer, Roberto Hernández, will be present. His upscale furnishings and accessories celebrate the talents of local artisans. This will be his first public showing in San Miguel.

Colorful large-scale abstractions executed by the San Miguel artist Beatriz Castañeda will be on display in spaces 14 and 15C. In this new series, the artist continues with her sophisticated exploration on the theme of gardens and lush landscapes. The Manuk gallery will show new work by Ricardo de la Torre, Lourdes Rivera, Lourdes Ortiz Rubio, Leigh Hyams, and Ken Prescott. The title of the exhibition is Gardeno.

The Chrysalis Studio presents a new series of abstract paintings, The Biology of Belief, by Tracy King. They are inspired by the divine connection of Mother Earth, humanity, and the fifth dimension, recognition that there is a universal intelligence and that we are all connected. Skot Foreman Gallery showcases new work by Leonardo Diaz, entitled Playground. The exhibition will feature beats: the visitor will be greeted by the artist as DJ, adding to the special evening. Moyshen the Gallery will exhibit works by Pierre Valls entitled PVC. Galleria 303 will inaugurate a group exhibition with three artists—Sylvia Torres, Santiago Cruz, and artist Lucas Rise, the founder/director/artist of the El Ojo y el Diamante art space in Buenos Aires who signs his furniture art as “Sans Parapluie.”

Rise is a muralist painter, graphic and textile designer, photographer, and visual artist. Sylvia Torres’ paintings are endowed with an indispensable sensitivity to perceive and communicate emotions and rhythms of the city. Santiago Cruz, born in Panamá and raised between the US and the isthmus, studied at the rigorous Angel Art Academy in Florence, Italy.

All galleries will be open, and the artists will be there to welcome you. The summer white party has become one of Fábrica Aurora’s traditions.
