Resort in Cancun adds Lifeguard Drone

The Seadust Cancun Family Resort announced the addition of a lifeguard drone buoy to ensure the safety of guests staying at the property.

The drone will lend aid to lifeguards already working the resort’s beaches by supporting safety equipment and providing emergency floatation devices. With the addition, Seadust becomes the first property in the popular Mexican tourist destination to utilize a lifeguard drone.

The NORAS Performance company’s U SAFE drone is a lightweight lifesaving float that is remote controlled and can easily maneuver through the water to bring aid to struggling swimmers. It has a top speed of around 18 miles per hour.

The drone can be controlled from three miles away, making it ideal for deployment from the shoreline. It is expected to arrive in August.

Travel Trivia

What is the Continental Divide?

·         A mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains.

·         The border between two continents.

·         A boundary separating a continent’s waterways.

·         A series of mountains that separates hemispheres.

Odds are if you’ve been hiking in the Rocky Mountains you’ve heard of the Continental Divide of the Americas, aka the Great Divide. This line marks the separation of a continent’s river systems. Each river system feeds into a distinct ocean basin, bay, or sea.

In the case of the Americas, the Great Divide separates those waterways that drain into the Pacific and those that drain into the Atlantic. Most continents have several divides, but the Great Divide of the Americas is notable since it spans multiple continents and is marked by several famous mountain ranges.

This divide runs from Alaska, through western Canada along the crest of the Rocky Mountains to New Mexico. From there, it follows Mexico’s Sierra Madre Occidental and extends to the tip of South America along the Andes Mountains.
