Americans Celebrate the Fourth of July

By Karla Ortiz

Wherever you are, roots and national celebrations must not be forgotten. That is why the American community of San Miguel celebrates the Fourth of July every year in the company of friends and family.

This year, Democrats Abroad celebrated American Independence Day at the Arthur Murray Dance Center with a buffet and bar service.

Attendees got to play a game in which they reported the last state they voted in, which they learned the US government considers their home state. California was the state where most people came from, as it turned out.

At the end, some pins and Democrats Abroad commemorative bags were raffled off. There was also a demonstration by the dance studio staff.

All Americans were able to verify their voter registration information according to their home state. They were also informed that Get Out The Vote volunteers will be available to assist voters in the registration and voting process.

Stay tuned to Democrats Abroad publications for more information about where and when volunteers will be available. Americans can cast their vote from Mexico.
