A Journey on the Balsa Tierra

By Jesús Aguado

“We are matter. We are changing. We are infinite. What paths are we tracing,” is the text that accompanies the monumental sculpture by Jorge Marín on calle Hidalgo.

Balsa Tierra is the title of this piece that will be in exhibition from now and until November.

“Four elements converge in Balsa Tierra. Air, on the wings of the being that connects with the sky, is associated with wind and breath. Therefore, life is the subtle world between heaven and earth. Fire is in the sphere that is carried in its hand and water is the medium where the raft transits. Earth is alluded to in humankind because it is made of clay.”

Jorge Marín (México, 1963) has created sculptures of different dimensions, from miniature to monumental. With his pieces, he has presented individual exhibitions in Europe, Africa, Asia and America; he has participated also in 260 collective expositions.
