Lety Fernández y Julia López

After five years as head of the Cruz Roja (the Red Cross) San Miguel delegation, Lety Fernández has decided to leave her position as president. So on June 17, the Cruz Roja held a bohemian-style celebration, attended by sponsors and artists who have supported the Cruz Roja during her tenure. During this celebration, they bid farewell to Fernández and to one of the greatest efforts that the association has had in the area of fundraising and promotion.

In a completely free event, 12 artists served as presenters, including Lilia Reyes Spíndola, Laureano Brizuela, Gabriel Hernández, Magda Macle, Jimena Gállego, Denis Cárcamo, and Pepillo Origel and Isaura Espinosa. Friends of the Cruz Roja who have participated in the organization’s gala nights as well as donors and the general public attended.

Fernández will not leave until August or September, but Fernández has suggested that Julia López, who now is the vice president, should remain in charge of the organization. Currently they are still in the process of providing information to the state delegation so they can select the next presidency and the next administrative council.

However, Fernández will not be far from the Cruz Roja. She says she will spend some time as vice president in order to help in any way she can. She also mentioned how happy she is that the Cruz Roja has achieved a stable status in which both volunteers and workers work for the same objective and achieve their goals on a daily basis.

“Not only does the [administrative] council’s effort, which is enough, help us achieve our goals, but so does the effort of all those who make up the Cruz Roja, and the media that disseminate all the information about collections and events to the community,” said Fernández.
