Waldorf-Inspired School to Hold Conference on Changing Education Needs

By Jalil Aragon

The world is changing quickly. Today, all aspects of life are entirely unlike anything that has come before, environmentally as well as intellectually. And it will continue to change rapidly and decisively, becoming ever more demanding for the coming generation. Are we, parents and teachers alike, prepared to meet these challenges with educational programs that inspire flexibility, perseverance, imagination, and, above all, a compassionate interest in the world?

More than merely teaching “the 3 Rs,” today’s youth will need solid yet innovative tools to help them navigate, socially and technologically, the contemporary world. They will need ideas—in the radical meaning of the word. For this reason, a group of parents and teachers have supported Waldorf education for adolescents in San Miguel de Allende. The OLLIN SMA High School, a bilingual Waldorf-inspired school, is inviting students, parents, teachers, and all groups interested in education, scholarships, and the environment to participate in a free conference on May 29 that will focus on needs, changes, and challenges in education.

For almost 100 years, Waldorf schools have offered holistic education, in that “the hand, the heart, and the head” are addressed equally and in that order. One of the richest curriculums in the world, a Waldorf education works to meet the unique challenges of today’s world.
