Exhibit Opening Features Fresh Talent, Art, Music

By Cindy Cunningham

Artist Samuel Pérez Lugo was born in Plancarte, near Celaya. His love for the Bajio landscape is evident in his work. It expresses an extraordinary nostalgia and captures the sense of space and time of the place where he was born. His deep memories of life and love from Plancarte inform his adventure of interpreting life and time, the world, man, and his history. His education at the Instituto Allende—he is a recent graduate—has expanded his horizons and given him a wider perspective of the endless possibilities and forms of artistic expression.

Lugo’s exhibit opening on April 14 will feature a talented group of young musicians, all of whom masterfully play the double bass. They received a standing ovation at their August, 2017, concert at San Juan de Dios.

Juan Antonio Huerta Quezada is studying for a degree in music. He is a member of the youth symphonic Orchestra Silvestre Revueltas of the conservatory of Music and Arts of Celaya and is also part of the ensemble Kiss My Bass that has been performing professionally for a year. Pedro Emmanuel Dominguez Rodriguez, 24, is a university student majoring in double bass. Currently he is a member of the youth orchestra Silvestre Revueltas and is part of the Kiss My Bass quartet. His short-term goal is to be accepted as a student at the G Verdi Conservatory in Milan.

Francisco Alberto Hernández Álvarez, 23, is a student at the Conservatory of Music and Art in Celaya, majoring in instrumental music, and is a member of the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Orchestra. He studied with several master class double bass musicians both in Mexico and abroad.

Dafne González Pacheco, 21, pianist, is a student of instrumental music at the Conservatory of Music and Art in Celaya. She has performed in many concerts with the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Orchestra. She is a member of a string quintet and the Kiss My Bass group.
