Guilty! We grew up!

By Jayn Corral

“We didn’t mean to do it. It just happened. We grew up! It’s not our fault that those adorable little kittens come along and get adopted leaving us ‘young’ adults behind,” Albahaca and Quest protest.

Albahaca arrived at the SPA with her three siblings in August 2017 at four months old. A beautiful calico with a loving personality, she was the shyest of the litter. Her outgoing siblings were adopted soon after they arrived. When Albahaca graduated to young adult world, she shed her shyness and became a lovely young lady who gets along with people and other cats and has become a peacemaker when other young adult cats squabble. Once Albahaca is confident in her surroundings and the people around her, she opens up to share her love, personality, and appreciation.

Quest is a handsome, big, orange boy. He arrived at the SPA in December 2016 with his six siblings. Like Albahaca, he was the shy one in the family. His siblings have long since gone off to their forever homes. As an adult he has evolved into a diplomat, having negotiated and resolved many disagreements among the adults. He loves cats and people, and will tell you what he is thinking. Every day when it is time for the volunteers to leave for the day, Quest reminds them they need to leave a treat.

The only reason Albahaca and Quest are still at the SPA is that they are no longer kittens. The volunteers agree with Quest and Albahaca who were overheard commenting, “If only people would look at us before looking at those adorable kittens! They would realize that we will not cause problems, like those little ones. We may take a little time to adjust to a new home, but then we will share our love with our forever family.” Please come to the SPA, Los Pinos 7, 152 6124, any day during adoption hours, Monday-Saturday 11–2 and make sure you bypass the kittens and give Albahaca and Quest a chance to work their ways into your hearts.
