Danzón at the Church of the Oratorio

By Leonardo Rosen

The Club de Danzón “Mercerina” has been invited to perform in the atrium of the Church of the Oratorio at the Fiesta de Nuestro Señor de la Misericordia. It is an honor for us to be part of a religious tradition of San Miguel de Allende—Muchas gracias to Señora Guadalupe Robles and the clergy of the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri. We are also available to perform without charge at charitable and other not-for-profit events.

We will perform at the Oratorio on Saturday, April 5, at 8pm in the open air atrium of this church. Admission is free. There will be exhibitions of the danzón, a great Cuban/Mexican tradition, as well as social dancing. The Oratorio is in the Centro of SMA, right next to the Plaza Cívica. For more information, please call 154 5840 (Leonardo Rosen) or 152 6847 (Guadalupe Robles).

An advance note: We will present “El Danzón y Otros Ritmos Bailables” at El Sindicato on Sunday, April 22, 2018, 2–5pm. We’ll have more information about that a little later on. If you don’t know what the danzón sounds like, please listen to “Al Son de Danzón,” Saturdays at noon on XESQ Radio San Miguel, 103.3FM or 1280AM. As we always say, “You are the stars of this show!”

“¡Viva Su Majestad El Danzón!”
