First Friday Live! Kabbalat Shabat Service

By Carole J. Stone

Our final First Friday Live! Kabbalat Shabbat service for the season is here. We will have “meet and greet” refreshments at 5:30pm with our service beginning at 5:50pm. This service will be a special yizkor or remembrance service. Yizkor services are held four times a year: during Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot. The Jewish religion believes in the eternity of the soul. By reciting yizkor prayers, remembering our loved ones by reading out their names, and giving charity in a loved one’s name, we renew and strengthen the connection between our loved ones and us. Reciting yizkor serves as an important and reflective time for individuals to honor and commemorate their loved ones. It is customary to light a memorial candle at home to reflect upon their memory.

Please join us at the Jewish Cultural and Community Center (JC3), Las Moras 47 (corner of Las Moras & Cinco de Mayo), for this special Passover yizkor service. All are welcome.
