Art and Kitsch Sale to Help Kids

By Sharon Doherty

Looking for art to decorate your home, rental property, or business? Then join us at Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel de Allende at Umarán 107 this Saturday for an opportunity to purchase original art pieces and more. Some of these articles were created by well-known artists including David Leonardo, Keith Keller, Georg Rauch, and Rolando Guillermopieto.

There will also be handmade jewelry and various used furniture and household items, including a microwave, decorative cushions, a commercial bread maker, Craftsman scroll saws, and much, much more.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit the School for Special Education, serving deaf children and young people in San Miguel. They are taught Mexican Sign Language in primary, middle and high school and are offered vocational training workshops to provide job skills. The school’s mission is “to ensure that all San Miguel de Allende children and young adults who are deaf become literate, independent, and productive citizens who set and achieve life goals.”

For more information about this event or to learn more about the school, please call John Doherty at 152 51 92. We also invite you to visit the school’s website at

Hope to see you there!
