VC and Friends and Anam Cara Forge a New Venture

By Marc Taylor

VC and Friends, a San Miguel venue known for music and dancing, and Anam Cara, a band known for finely crafted folk, rock, and blues arrangements, are partnering to offer a casual yet sophisticated evening of your favorite music, food, and drink. VC and Friends has until now been a late-night gathering place for weekend revelers, but owner Jorge Levario wants to make it available to those interested in a thoughtful and creative experience. The collaboration with Anam Cara is an invitation to those who would enjoy an event earlier in the evening with others of more mature tastes.

Anam Cara is a new musical venture in San Miguel. The band, featuring Catherine Bryne, Marc Taylor, Jordan Beslow, and Larry Dworksy, is rapidly developing a reputation for presenting well-known songs from the ‘60s and ‘70s, as well as traditional American folk music in updated arrangements. Their repertoire draws from Crosby, Still and Nash, John Prine, Woody Guthrie, Cat Stevens, The Left Bank, Gillian Welsh, Peggy Lee, Bob Dylan, and many others. Their performance features close harmonies and virtuoso instrumentals. The audience is encouraged to sing and dance.

Doors open at 7pm for light fare (gourmet pizza for example) and cocktails. Anam Cara begins at 8pm for two shows.
