Lecture Explains How to Get Cardiac Care Close to Home

By Melanie Lansing and Claudia Aguilar

Have you or someone you known experienced a heart condition that required traveling to Querétaro for advanced cardiac care? In April 2018, H+ Hospital San Miguel will be opening a cardiac unit right here in town.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. For instance, if you are a man in your forties or a postmenopausal woman with high blood pressure, or if you have high blood sugar levels, or smoke, you may be at high risk of developing a heart condition. Then, too, in a cardio emergency (myocardial infarction or heart attack), quick and appropriate access to care can be a matter of life and death. The amount of damage done to the heart is directly impacted by the amount of time it takes from arrival in the emergency room to the insertion of a catheter.

Catheterization services are now only available at Querétaro and Celaya hospitals. With increasing traffic on the highways, getting there takes more time, therefore increasing the risk that proper and timely treatment may be too late.

The cardiovascular unit at H+ Hospital was created to save lives. Next month, H+ Hospital San Miguel will now be part of a select group of private hospitals in Mexico with a cardiovascular unit. They will be offering stent surgery, angioplasty, and pacemakers as well as heart check-ups and diagnostic testing services (echocardiogram, stress test, EKG, Holter monitor, and more.).

The goal is to treat patients in cardiac arrest quickly, securely, and efficiently. By doing so, the patients´ opportunity to regain a normal life increases dramatically.

The H+ San Miguel cardiology team will speak at La Casona Convention Center on the common signs of cardiovascular disease, preventative measures, as well as treatment options at H+ Hospital. They will also introduce the new H+ Cardiac Care Unit and discuss all of the advanced cardiac services now available.
Come meet the cardiology team of doctors: Dr. (first name needed) Reyes received his medical degree from Universidad de Guanajuato and his cardiology and interventional cardiology degrees from the prestigious Instituto Nacional de Cardiología in Mexico City. Dr. (first name needed) Casal received his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and his advanced degrees in cardiology from the Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez.

Join us at the La Casona Convention Center from 5–6:30pm for the inaugural event and cocktails afterwards.

We ask those interested to RSVP beforehand. Please email peaceofmindsma@gmail.com or call Mx. Cell: 415-108-0810 or Vonage 971-327-7187 to notify us of your participation.
