Dear Editor:

Complaint regarding the streets in the Privadas de Animas:

I would like to report my surprise and worry when at Obras Públicas San Miguel Allende, under Arquitecto Felipe de Jesus Tapia Campos, I was told that they would not repair the multiple holes on the streets of the Privadas de Ánimas because the person in charge of the Centro neighborhood, according to them, does not want the repairs to be done. They did not give me the name of that person.

I live in one of these privadas with my family. One of them has walking issues and requires a cane or a walker. Walking on streets with holes is risky not only to this person but to anyone. Here live many children and old people. But even worse is the situation of garbage, dog waste, and water accumulation in the holes. In the rainy season, this situation will become much worse due to the health risk posed by mosquitoes. This is not all: water infiltrates, causing more stones to become loose; thus the holes will increase in size. The longer it takes for Obras Públicas to fix the holes, the more of those there will be, and their size will increase. The repair will be costlier and will take longer.

If Obras Públicas is afraid of doing their job as it might upset the person or persons who oppose the necessary repairs, I will not put myself at risk of reprisals. So I will not provide my name or include my address, but this does not change the fact that the repairs must be done, and the sooner the better.

I thank you for making public this situation.
