Mexican and German Concerts Coming to Casa Europa

By Cecilia Romero

Casa Europa is pleased to present two upcoming extraordinary concerts—of the MEXAL choir on March 3, and of top singing and concert teacher Lorenz Miehlich on March 4.

Mexal Music

The MEXAL de Querétaro/San Miguel Choir was formed out of workshops in vocal techniques that have been taught in both cities since 2010. The members are mostly Mexican, but also some are foreign residents, both amateurs and professionals.

In these workshops, with each stay of the teacher, members prepare the repertoire for each following concert with a program of a cappella music for mixed voices. The music chosen is from eras ranging from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. The current program includes compositions in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, and Swedish.

Concert by Lorenz Miehlich

As a concert artist, Lorenz Miehlich frequently performs in countries in Europe and Central America. He has recorded CDs with the Heinrich Isaac-Ensemble of Karlsruhe and with the Deutscher Kammerchor. He has also made radio recordings with SWR, HR, Radio France, and Deutschlandfunk.

In addition, Lorenz Miehlich works as a singing teacher with various ensembles and is a regular conductor of singing courses taught in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Mexico.
