Solamente en San Miguel, Volume III Begins Month of Author Readings

Solamente Cover

By Susan Page

The San Miguel Literary Sala proudly announces the publication of the third volume of our popular anthology, Solamente en San Miguel, Volume III, as well an upcoming series of readings by authors from the just-released anthology.

Have you ever heard yourself saying, “I just can’t convey what San Miguel is all about to people who have not been here!” This book will help! It is a collection of short fiction, memoir, essays, humor, and poetry, all about the magic, the people, the history, and the experience of San Miguel de Allende. Here is your opportunity to delve deeper into San Miguel’s alluring buena vida, from tales of a secret tunnel beneath San Miguel to a calamitous train ride through northern Mexico.

Discover the deep history of this town when you learn how one family prepared dinner for the Emperor Maximilian. Feel the epiphany one woman experienced with a flower vendor, or the emotions of a Mexican girl whose Mexican-American neighborhood is being gentrified.

It’s easy to love San Miguel’s glorious colonial buildings; its gothic-style Parrochia; the lively art, music, and literary communities here; and the award-winning restaurants, shops, hotels, and galleries. This book lets you go deeper, to discover the cumulative effect on the hearts and spirits of people who live here day by day, and who have lived here for decades. It is both a love letter to this unique place and its people and a celebration of the diversity and talent of its writers.

The book’s more than 50 richly varied contributions include works by Tony Cohan, C.M. Mayo, Merilyn Simonds, Óscar Plazola, Maruja González, Manuel Carranza, Judyth Hill, and many more, with pieces in both Spanish and English. The book’s editor and project manager is Judith Gille, with editorial assistance from Nathan Feuerberg, Judyth Hill, and Armida Zepeda. The design of both the cover and the interior of the book is by Patricia Garcia.
