The SOME organization demonstrates through action that serving others is a beautiful and mutual exchange of energy, fulfilling for both ends. This experience could not marry up the SOME organization and the 2018 Food in Film Festival any better.

With festive colors and live music, the local elderly sat alongside each other as SOME made their weekly distribution of food to San Miguel’s elderly in need.

“Their amazing features could be appreciated under different circumstances than what most people are accustomed to seeing or imagining. They were conversing, laughing, smiling, and enjoying themselves as they received attention and food.” The volunteers were both national and foreign and were eager to carry trays full of well-balanced meals to our city’s elderly.

“I was expecting a line of people with trays shuffling sideways past a long table having food ladled into a styrofoam bowl and a volunteer calling out ‘¿Quién Sigue?’ which means ‘Who’s Next?’”

The third annual Food in Film Festival presents some of the best foodie films and features local chefs, restaurants caterers, and their cuisine. During the three-day festival, two films are featured per day. The first movie is shown at noon, and the second at 5pm. This will happen on three consecutive days, February 22–24, in the Miguel Malo Auditouriun inside Centro Cultural El Nigromante (Bellas Artes). After the films are presented, San Miguel’s top chefs and restaurants will serve botanas paired with the movie’s theme.

Contributions are 250 pesos and include the movie, food tasting, and a drink. Day and full-access passes are also available with discounts.

For screening times, contributions, and botana/film pairings, visit the official 2017 Food in Film website at foodinfilmsanmiguel.com.
