Stent Surgery in San Miguel

By René Reyes and Carlos Gómez

Have you or someone you know experienced a heart condition that required minimally invasive surgery known as “cardiac catheterization”? As of today, any person experiencing a heart condition here in San Miguel would need to travel to Queretaro to receive advanced cardiac care. Starting in 2018, there is going to be a cardiovascular unit in San Miguel de Allende.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. If you are a man 40 years old or older or a postmenopausal woman, and you have high pressure, high blood sugar levels, or smoke, you may be at high risk of developing heart conditions that require specialized care.

In the February 8 Medical Lecture “Stent Surgery in San Miguel,” Dr. René Reyes and Dr. Carlos Gómez will discuss common signs of cardiovascular disease, preventative measures as well as treatment options here in San Miguel. In addition, they will introduce the new Heart Unit at H+ Hospital and review all of the advanced cardiac services now available, including diagnostic testing.

Dr. Reyes received his medical degree from Universidad de Guanajuato and his Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology degrees from the prestigious Instituto Nacional de Cardiología in Mexico City. Dr. Reyes is board certified and has a private practice in San Miguel de Allende and Irapuato.

Dr. Gómez received his medical degree from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and his advanced degrees in Cardiology and Echocardiography from the Hospital General de Mexico. Dr. Gomez is board certified and practices medicine in San Miguel de Allende and Celaya.

Dr. Reyes and Dr. Gómez will present on Thursday, February 8, from 4–5:30pm in the Sala Quetzal at the Biblioteca. We ask those interested to RSVP beforehand. Please email or call Mx. Cell: 415 108 0810 or Vonage 971 327 7187 to notify us of your participation. Cost of the session is 100 pesos.

The Medical Lecture Series is presented by Peace of Mind in San Miguel and H+ Hospital San Miguel. Every second Thursday of the month, local board certified doctors will offer key information on how to treat and prevent chronic illness, accidents, and common ailments.

Peace of Mind in San Miguel is a community service project created by Melanie Lansing and Mexico Insurance Advisors as a means to raise awareness among the English-speaking community on how to be prepared for medical emergencies in San Miguel.
