Kestenbaum-Onno at Casa Europa

By Cecilia Romero

An important mission of Casa Europa in Mexico is to link, through art, both European and Mexican cultures. What better representatives for this task than the wonderful artistic work of the Kestenbum-Onno family, recognized artists of European origin, but who for many years have resided in the city of San Miguel de Allende.

Lothar Kestenbaum, who was creditor of the Chair in Sculpture at the Institute of Fine Arts for several years, was one of the finest and most important sculptors who developed his art in San Miguel de Allende. Recognized for his work with bronze and marble, his works have been exhibited and acclaimed in Europe and the Americas.

Mai Onno has focused her artistic talent on painting; her work has been admired in different galleries, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City and many others in the United States. Since 1975, her work has been shown at the Institute of Fine Arts of San Miguel de Allende.

David Kestenbaum, son of the talented Lothar and Mai, was also an incredible talent in his own right. He was a great sculptor, who worked especially with wood, and whose works are also recognized and appreciated.

Casa Europa in Mexico is pleased to invite you to the opening of this wonderful exhibition. The art of Kestenbaum-Onno is already part of our beautiful city of San Miguel, and it is an honor to receive this exhibition in our galleries.

The opening will take place this February 8 at 7pm, at Casa Europa, San Francisco 23.
