Calling All Fallen Women! Come Celebrate our Saints Day on February 1

By Barbara Mandaville

FALLEN WOMEN St. Bridget

Have you wondered what all the bells and firecrackers before dawn are all about? Well the ones on February 1 are to implore St Bridget, the Patron Saint of Fallen Women, to listen to our prayers. She may be the unofficial “saint” of San Miguel’s Fallen Women.

As a tribute to St. Bridget, we at Casa de la Noche (our town’s famous old bordello) invite all “Fallen Women” of San Miguel for a gathering in our patio garden, to ask our patroness to guide us carefully through life and in the streets of San Miguel.

We will honor those most recently fallen, and we will give advice and condolences to the formerly fallen. Ladies, come join us. Show us your injuries and the aches that remain. Tell us the story of “your fall.” Come participate in this fun gathering of San Miguel’s fallen women at Casa de la Noche, February 1, 5pm. Margaritas and botanas will be served and crutches are welcome. There will be no charge for Fallen Women.
