At Christmas time, the best thing to do is to give, and what better way to do that than by supporting organizations in San Miguel that have a common goal—to help those who have the least.

The first annual Gala San Miguel, an event that seeks to support non-governmental organizations and provide a space for them to be together and receive donations, took place on Friday at La Casona. It was a magical night, accompanied by dinner, dancing and music.

Around 200 people attended this event, which is designed to raise funds annually to benefit different San Miguel NGOs each year, so that funds eventually reach everyone. On this occasion, the funds raised will be directly donated to La Biblioteca to continue with its work of scholarships for young people, its courses, and its workshops. Funds will also benefit the Cruz Roja of San Miguel, Viviendas Oaxaca, and Fundación Jóvenes Sanmiguelenses.

The entertainers for the evening included a big band-style orchestra from Valle de Santiago and a DJ.They were a special treat for the representatives of the organizations that make San Miguel a municipality full of peace, kindness, and conviviality. At this enchanted event, guests were able to strengthen ties and create unity.

The Business Coordinating Council of San Miguel, together with CANACO SERVYTUR (local chapter of Mexico’s national chamber of commerce) and CANIRAC Delegation San Miguel (local chapter of a national association of restaurants and food producers) joined forces to make this event possible. Several San Miguel personalities were present, including Mr. Luis Ferro de la Sota, president of the Business Coordinating Council; Dr. Merrill, president of the Public Library; Paolo Bizzotto, president of CANIRAC; Daniel Hernandez, president of CANACO; Francisco Garcia, president of the Tourist Council; Guadalupe Alvarez, founder of Penzi; and some members of the Rotary Club.

All who attended gave of their hearts to help raise funds and give the tools to this year’s beneficiary organizations.
