The month-long SMA Quilter’s show closed on Tuesday, October 31 at Café Muro and benefitted Ojala Niños with 100% of the sales. All the beautiful quilts sold, including the magnificent Calaca piece created by all the quilters.

Ojala Niños is a nonprofit education program offering free daily classes to all the children in the rural community of San Miguel Viejo. Classes include literacy, music, math, art, crafts, environment, health, social service, and sports.

Visitors are welcome and volunteers are especially invited to offer special projects or just come and participate in the classes with the kids. They are creative, fun, and excited to be with new people. Spanish is not required!

If you’d like to help in any way, please contact Betty López at bettyblopez@outlook.com for more information about visiting or volunteering—and please see our website at ojala-ninos.org to make a donation.

Every offer of time, talent, or treasure helps to give these children opportunities to realize a brighter future! “Ojala” means hope, but hope is an illusion without opportunity!
