Film Series: The Quest of How to Spin Beauty from Human Despair.

Maudie

By Judith Cohen

The movie that we will be screening is Maudie. It is about the self-taught artist Maudie Lewis. The actors who play the two main characters are Sally Hawkings and Ethan Hawk. It is a dramatic display of artistic talents from both of them, involving the ability to develop real human and interesting characters from closed people. The story is about a Nova Scotia woman who works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes independent and beloved by many. There are a few of what we might call caveman moments when a strange tenderness emerges. As usual, the best stories are the true ones.

The film screens Sunday, October 29, at 4pm. Wine, cheese, and cake will be served. The address is Moras 47, corner of 5 de Mayo. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 185 9191 for reservations during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9am–5pm and Friday from 9am–3pm.

We have added new air conditioning and chairs for your comfort and convenience. We cordially invite all people from the community at large. Suggested donation is 100 pesos.
