For the second year, the Festival del Mar a Tierra Adentro (Sea Festival) was held on September 30 in the Casa de Aves Hotel. This is one of the festivals that promotes seafood dishes in San Miguel de Allende restaurants, organized by the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Spicy Foods Delegation San Miguel de Allende with the support of the Municipal Tourism Council and SECTUR GTO. The event was full of surprises for attendees and restaurant chefs.

On this occasion, a free festival was offered with kermes (neighborhood outdoor party with games and a carnival-like atmosphere) themes. Guests could buy “Pez Coin” tickets that had the same value as normal money (100 Pez Coin = 100 Mexican pesos). These Pez Coins could be exchanged for dishes from more than 10 different recipes prepared by chefs from CANIRAC SMA affiliated restaurants with fresh fish and seafood taken directly from the Mexican coasts for this event. Artisanal beers and regional mezcal were available to go along with the food. La Bella Italia, La Choperia, Muelle 13, El Vergel, Pescau, Restaurante de Casa de Aves, La Azotea, Kuni Doni, Los Milagros, La Fama, and Pronto Pizza were the restaurants present.

The festival was attended by Paolo Bizzotto, President of CANIRAC Delegation San Miguel de Allende; Guadalupe Arnieta, representative of CANIRAC State; Francisco García, President of the Tourism Council; Ricardo Vázquez López, Director of Promotion and Diffusion of Guanajuato; and Pavel Hernández Sindico of the City Council. Also present were José Alberto Martínez López, Ulises González Sánchez, and Edgar Román Chávez, three of the best chefs from Los Cabos to be jury and reward the best dish at the festival. Ariadna Berenice Vázquez of the restaurant El Vergel won with octopus on the embers and fried squid in Salsa Marinara. Her award was a trip to Cabo San Lucas, with all expenses paid by CANIRAC, to represent San Miguel de Allende in the Festival Sabor Cabo, which will be celebrated on December 9 this year.

During the Festival del Mar a Tierra Adentro, attendees enjoyed a fashion show in charge of Flor de Cielo, with exclusive designs in dresses, blouses, and handbags, and a collection of colorful wedding dresses.
