Last Friday, September 22, the San Miguel de Allende Fair began, celebrating the city’s 475th anniversary. Despite all the rain falling in recent days, people arrived early to enjoy all free attractions, mechanical games, the circus, and the musical groups that are presented in the town theater, paying only 40 pesos a ticket.

The tour began by passing through the food area, with hamburgers, pizzas, hot dogs, tacos, Arabian tacos, roasted meat, and many other dishes. Departure from this area was through the bread stalls whose aroma of fresh-baked bread and traditional gorditas de nata (cream gorditas) entranced visitors from the moment they entered. Then came all the shops with clothing, makeup, jewelry, watches, masks, extensions, hunting items, and other merchandise.

The children’s mechanical games were the first to appear, as well as elotes (corn), tamales (corn dough stuffed with meat, vegetables, chiles, sauces), drinks, and a small-improvised shop. Mechanical teacups, a carousel, a small train, inflatables, and other attractions were the items where adults could watch the kids having fun.

The village fair always clusters the best attractions to provide a good time for children, young people, and adults. There were 32 free mechanical games, the classic and unforgettable Carritos Chocones, The Himalaya, The Hammer, The Wheel of the Fortune, The Cableway, The House of Terror, The Tunnel of Time, and The House of Glass, among many others. At night time they had long lines of people waiting to enjoy one of the mechanical games that could raise their adrenaline and the Teatro del Pueblo that will continue with the presentations of Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho on Friday, October 6, Banda La Trakalosa de Monterrey on Saturday, October 7, Bronco on Sunday, October 8, and the final presentation, the Sonora Dinamita on Monday, October 9.
