“Vamos a Leer” Now in Cabras de Begoña

By Karla Ortiz

The last Saturday of each month is dedicated to reading in the Biblioteca Pública. “Vamos a Leer” is the library project that provides support to the communities in the municipality through reading. The date was changed this time to September 23 due to the festivities in San Miguel de Allende.

Children from the school Niños Héroes in the community of Don Juan Xido de Abajo in Cabras de Begoña from first to sixth grade attended nicely dressed in their uniforms to receive their endowment of books. They were given a tour through the library. Outside the youth room, the students began to ask about the dinosaur sculptures created by the children in the Plasticine workshop. Their tour continued to a Spanish room, an English room, and the Sala Quetzal, until they finished at the Santa Ana Theater, where they were shown a film. Library personnel invited them to register and attend some of the various workshops the library offers. An experience that children don’t forget, the library is home to each of them and the library continues to work for them and promote their education.

The endowment was 15 books and now the children can increase the size of the book space in the school and enjoy good reading there or at home. The school principal Berenice Cázares, the regent Lolita Rosales, Engineer Juan Saavedra, and Sandra Suaste Business Development Director of La Biblioteca, witnessed the joy the children expressed when they took delivery of the books.
