By Antonio Meltis

Wednesday 25 October, will see a major event in Cuban and Latin jazz history. The Angela Peralta Theatre will be the house of a Cuban-latin jazz orchestra directed by Maestro Gabriel Hernandez, under which masters from all corners of Cuban Latin Jazz will reveal a project Maestro Hernandez has had in the works for years. He calls it The Power of Cuban Music.

Maestro Gabriel Hernandez has had an awe inspiring career as a latin jazz musician, both in the realm of creation and his undeniable skill in the piano. A no small feat on its own, as it is, considering who he has played with, the all masters of latin jazz from La Havana Miami, and back, Maestro Hernandez, has shared the stage with all the greatest in the genre.

Born from the simple idea as to bring together the best latin jazz musicians, the Power of Cuban Music, has its roots in the stage, dating back to his days in Mexico City, when Maestro Hernandez brought the cream of latin jazz in a single room as a social event, as a way to bring together the best of the Cuban musicians as a friendly event.

Maestro Gabriel Hernandez, will present his boldest take on latin jazz with his newest project, the Power of Cuban Music, at the Teatro Angela Peralta.

Maestro Hernandez will bring up an orchestra of latin jazz, full with a starred reunion of Cuban masters of latin jazz seldom seen in decades. It is a project he has worked on for years, selecting each member to bring the most powerful conglomeration of Cuban artists in years.

The event will be held on the Teatro Peralta, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, but has already been praised as the most powerful reunion of Cuban jazz players in decades. Artist such as Gil Pireira, from Afro Cuban all Stars, Alfred Tompson, Sax player for Buena Vista Social Club and Omara Portuondo, and Pacha Portuondo, master timbal player, are among the ones that Maestro Hernandez has brought at the Teatro Angelica Peralta.
