Angela Nasta is a force of nature. Beth Rosener, coordinator for the San Miguel Fashion Show, says, “Angela is truly the hardest working, most creative, and incredibly generous person I know!” For Angela, her work is a labor of love.

Sindashi is more than a clothing store. It is Angela’s passion and a source of income and pride for more than 100 men and women in the rural communities of San Miguel de Allende. Angela has trained her workers in the art of hand painting fabric, beading, and embroidering. Their skills are the basis of her amazing Sindashi designs. It is interesting to note that more than 60 of these workers are Otomí Indians, and more than 30 of them speak no Spanish, only Otomí. Angela will soon be opening Sindashi stores in the US and Europe, spreading the beauty of Mexico and her people around the globe.

Mujeres en Cambio shares a strong connection with Angela as the focus of our organization is the education of young women in the rural communities surrounding San Miguel. This year we have increased our number of scholarships from just over 160 to 174. Of those, 42 are university scholarships. With your support, your financial contributions, and your participation in our events, these young women are working towards a better life as doctors, lawyers, architects, nurses, teachers, as well as for careers in technology, hospitality, tourism, and business.

The San Miguel Fashion Show, benefiting Mujeres en Cambio and featuring the newest designs by Sindashi and Angela Nasta, will be held Thursday, October 5, 5:00‒7:00 p.m. at the Instituto Allende. Our models will be women and men of San Miguel, your friends and ours, and you will be treated to an evening of beauty and breathtaking fashion. We will have a cash bar for beverages (your ticket includes a glass of wine or soft drink), and a delicious array of botanas will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mujeres en Cambio is a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for eighth grade through university to underserved young women in rural San Miguel. Over 95 percent of all funds raised go to our scholarship recipients. Please go to mujeresencambio.org for further information.
