The Encuentro Estatal de la Juventud (the State Youth Event) was celebrated once more. The event seeks to promote the entrepreneurship of young people and to motivate young people to accomplish their life projects. The event hopes to encourage youth not to stay with just one idea and lose the fear of seeking support from the government or nongovernmental entities to advance their goals. This past Tuesday, September 5, Yo Soy Joven and Guanajoven produced an event that captivated a large crowd of young people. The objective was to form an interaction between young people from all over the state of Guanajuato and with time to be strengthened by entrepreneurial cooperation in the social or business domain. In Guanajoven they are convinced that if a young person cares about a life project, he will be a person with conviction and inspiration. The three main concerns are to promote a person who participates socially, to promote a person who is actively interested in employment and in his or her studies, and to promote a person who will not become a psychosocial risk. As long as there is an expectation, a young person can always look forward to the future and will display examples of success, observing, imitating, and surpassing the best examples.

Among the guests who made this event a dynamic success were the standup comedian Alex Fernández and the Mexican group DLD. Although the weather didn’t help, a group of people waited to see these great inspirations of entrepreneurship. At 8:40pm sharp, Alex Fernández came on stage to bring some warmth and laughter to the audience that yearned to hear the best songs of DLD during the rain and the cold. In spite of the storm, the fans stayed and showed their enthusiasm to finally see the rock group for the first time in San Miguel de Allende.

In addition to the Encuentro Estatal, the Guanajoven organization celebrated its tenth anniversary. This has been 10 years of generating public policy and support for young people to follow their dreams and to try even harder to reach all their goals. As comedian Alex Fernández said, “You don’t have to get bored and continue to work on something boring. It’s possible to pursue your dreams and end up doing what you really want to do.” He told the crowd that at the beginning of his career as a comedian, he thought that he was leaving his job, when in reality he was just beginning.
