In the series of concerts organized by the independent Mexican Pitayo Music with the purpose of continuing with its work of promoting, recording, and producing soloists and jazz bands albums in Mexico, Alex Mercado and Flora Pasquet, as a duet, will give an intimate performance Thursday, August 31 at 7pm in the Auditorium of Bellas Artes.

Alex Mercado and Flora Pasquet will share their new interpretations of a great repertoire of jazz. Alex Mercado, a pianist and musical landscape artist, creates colorful scenes through his sensitivity, which accompanies the voice of Flora, who tells stories from her experience, singing French songs, jazz standards, and personal compositions. Between Paris, Brazil, Reunion Island, Mexico, and the US, they create musical dynamics with different rhythms and languages, offering a musical journey.

The influential Mexican jazz pianist, arranger, and composer Alex Mercado is recognized as an obsessive adventurer in the perfection of the artistic task by always emphasizing the human essence through music. With three albums on his list (The Watcher, Symbiosis, and Refraction), and countless collaborations with leading musicians and singers at home and abroad, he has set his sights on spreading his creative experiences so that art becomes a constant in our every day. Alex Mercado is one of the most outstanding Mexican jazz pianists of his generation. His work as a performer has been extensive in Mexico and abroad. He has collaborated with international artists such as Antonio Sánchez, Miguel Zenón, Brian Lynch, Magos Herrera, JD Walter, Nir Felder, and many more.

Flora Pasquet is a representative of the syncopated rhythm originally from Réunion, a small island integrated to the French Republic. She is a singer from a family of musicians. She began her career at the age of 16 by performing in choirs for important Reunion singers such as Dominique Barret, Meddy Gerville, and Clarice Técher. Pasquet traveled to Paris for her major studies, and in 2009 she founded her first original project, Nuvoyá. In 2010, she traveled to Mexico where she worked alongside Armando Manzanero and began jazz music forming the Flora Pasquet Quartet. The music of Flora Pasquet is a mix that shows characteristics of French music, the island rhythms of Reunion, and different genres such as bossa nova, soul, and jazz.

Tickets can be purchased online at, at the Noel Cayetano Gallery at Hernández Macías 68, and one hour before the concert outside the Auditorium.
