Acapulco to be Cruise Ship’s Home Port in 2018

Acapulco will be the port of origin for the 1,400 passenger Magellan cruise ship of Cruise and Maritime Voyages starting in the winter of 2018. The roundtrip cruise will depart from Acapulco and make stops in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas before returning to port.

The boat has 750 cabins, including suites with balconies, bars, beauty salons, casino, club, cinema, library, showroom, and swimming pools.

Interjet Adds Flight JFK-Mexico City

Interjet added a third daily, non-stop flight between New York’s JFK Airport and Mexico City’s Aeropuerto Internacional effective June 15. The added flight will use Interjet’s A320 and increase JFK-Mexico City departures to four. Fares will start at US$388.42 for round-trip service.

Interjet offers expanded legroom between seats, free light snacks and drinks, and no fees for checked baggage on specific fares. Interjet, based in Mexico City, provides air service to 53 destinations in eight countries.

Alaska Airlines to Fly to Mexico City

The US Department of Transportation has approved Alaska Airlines’ planned service to Mexico City from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.

If the Mexican government approves the routes, which Alaska expects soon, the carrier will begin daily round-trip service from Los Angeles and San Francisco on August 8 and daily round-trip service from San Diego on November 6, as well as adding a second flight from Los Angeles.

Viking Honored for Luxury Ocean and River Cruises

Viking Cruises has been honored as “Best Cruise Line for Luxury Ocean Cruises” and “Best Luxury River Cruise Company” in Luxury Travel Advisor magazine’s 2017 “Awards of Excellence.”

Viking’s win marks the first time the annual “Awards of Excellence” have recognized the same company in both Luxury Ocean and River Cruising categories.

Cunard Crossword Crossing

Cunard and The New York Times are collaborating to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the paper’s iconic crossword. The special sailing will leave on a 7-night cruise departing December 8, 2017.

Passengers on this special trans-Atlantic trip will be able to puzzle their way across the ocean onboard the Queen Mary 2 from New York City to Southampton, England on the Crossword Crossing.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has launched The Masterpiece Collection, a selection of fully inclusive cruise and air itineraries for 2018.
