For Classical Music Lovers

By Michael Pearl

I am delighted to announce that the Pro Musica Chamber Youth Orchestra will give its first public concert at St. Paul’s Church, Calle Cardo 6, on Sunday, July 23, at 5pm. Under the baton of Music Director Tim Hazell, the program will consist of works from the romantic classical repertoire, including Mozart’s Symphony 25, Claude Debussy’s Reverie, and St. Paul’s Suite for Strings by Gustav Holst. After the orchestra’s huge success at our Gala Fundraiser in February, when they delighted the audience with their skill and enthusiasm, this will be the first opportunity for a wider public to enjoy their remarkable talents.

Music Education Outreach Program
By Pro Musica Youth Chamber Orchestra
Sun, Jul 23, 5pm
St. Paul’s Church, Cardo 6
Tickets: 150 pesos

Joining them for this presentation will be two superb musicians from the Guanajuato Symphony, Alan Monahan and Kathy Snelling. They will perform the Mozart symphony with the regular ensemble and, along with orchestra bassoonist Andrés Felix, interpret works for bassoon trio by Carl Nielsen and F.H.J. Castil-Blaze.

A member of our newly inaugurated Young Conductor’s Program, Monserrat Luna will close the concert with the fourth “Allegro” movement of the Mozart Symphony, bringing it to a spirited finale. The experience of working with a live orchestra is hard to come by. This added responsibility gives the musicians a chance to add hands-on conducting to their growing range of skills by having a piece of the program all to themselves!

All of these multifarious activities are funded solely by you. Should you decide to become a member, you will be supporting our education outreach programs through your membership subscriptions, as well as having the option of contributing directly by way of cash or gifts in kind.

Don’t miss our Youth Chamber Orchestra in their special inaugural performance July 23! All tickets are priced at a donation of a very reasonable 150 pesos and can be purchased at La Tienda in the Biblioteca Pública, La Conexión (only at Aldama 3), and at the concert half an hour before performance time. Details of all Pro Musica concerts and Patron Memberships are on our web site,, or you can contact us at

This public appearance and future planned concerts, which we hope you will attend, give the orchestra a strong sense of purpose and commitment. I urge all of you to support these amazing young players in this unique community music program and to spend an enjoyable time listening to some well-loved classical music!
