The public library of San Miguel de Allende makes generous donation of books to Casa Europa en México S.C

By María Abel and Denise Deanda

Thanks to the initiative of Ms. Anne Challamel, member of the Council of Casa Europa and Mr. Ali Zeriff, Vice-President of the Public Library, French, German and Italian language books have been donated to Casa Europa as a first donation towards opening its own library.

La Casa de Europa en México is a civil association with the mission to create interchange between Mexico and Europe such as cultural, business, educational, among others. In accordance with the Global Agreement between the European Union and Mexico, Casa Europa offers programs and activities presenting European culture and facilitating better understanding between European citizens and Mexicans.

Thanks to this donation, La Casa de Europa will be able to start equipping its own library with European literature, starting with those books of all disciplines so that French, German and Italian residents can find books in their language and provide reference materials to local students learning those languages. As part of a mayor renovation project Casa Europa plans to institute a new library room and will offer books from other European countries through donations from individuals and other sources.

La Casa de Europa greatly appreciates the donation made by the Public Library and hopes to continue to carry out activities that benefit and enrich both institutions, and invites the entire community interested in accessing these books to browse them at the facilities of La Casa Europa any day of the week from 10am-6pm.
