These guitarists are two of the most active in the Mexican jazz scene. They explore many original compositions with a fusion of sounds, influences, and musical tributes reminiscent of guitarists Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Jim Hall, and Pat Metheny, among others.

This concert will be the stage for the official release of their first album, Conversaciones, a compilation of original music and arrangements of jazz standards, recorded in Mexico City at the Casa del Árbol studio and produced by Pitayo Music.

Alberto Medina showed interest in jazz from an early age. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music in composing and arranging. In 2005 he was awarded a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree at the University of New Orleans, where he had the opportunity to be part of the prestigious Louis Armstrong Quintet. He is currently the director of GuitArt, a collaborative space where courses, workshops, and clinics are the tools for those interested in guitar.

Roberto Sánchez Picasso was born in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, and studied Composition at the Conservatory of Roses in Morelia, Michoacán. Later he emigrated to the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands, where he received a music degree with specialization in jazz guitar and production. He has been granted scholarships and various incentives in Mexico and the Netherlands. Roberto actively participates in the organization of jazz courses for young musicians interested in the execution and theoretical knowledge of jazz.

For the Jazz Guitar Duet in concert, Saturday, April 29, 5pm. Art Gallery La 303/Fábrica La Aurora, tickets can be purchased online at pitayosessionssanmiguel.boletia.com or the day of the event directly in the gallery.
