Students Seek to Attend University
By Robin Loving
This is the next in a series of profiles of outstanding local Mexican honors students whose goal is to attend university, but whose challenge is economic. Jóvenes Adelante is hoping to raise 25 sponsorships for the students who pass their rigorous screening process. We are about halfway there, and must accomplish our goal by June.
Sponsorships provide financial, computer, mentor, psychological, life skills, English, and graduate network resources to each Jóvenes Adelante student. As a result, our students have an 85-percent graduation rate¾higher than in the US, Mexico, or Canada. Sponsorships cost about US$4/day over what typically is a five-year university career, four years plus an internship, and sponsorships are tax deductible in the US, Mexico and Canada.
While we cannot guarantee a certain student for a sponsor, all of our potential students want to make you proud by breaking the cycles of historic economic disparity into which they were born. If you can help, please contact President Robin Loving at email@example.com, 415 112 3413 (SMA), and/or 925 476 8117 (US/Canada).
