Crystal to Offer Free Wi-Fi on All Ships

Crystal Cruises will institute unlimited free Wi-Fi on its ocean, river, and yacht fleets starting in April. There will be no limits on streaming video or other content forms.

Crystal is buying more bandwidth and improving technology to enable free Wi-Fi. Internet services remain expensive for cruise ships because they must be routed through satellites when ships are out of range of land transmission.

Luxury lines have been inching toward including Wi-Fi as part of the fare. Regent Seven Seas Cruises recently went to unlimited free Internet on all ships.
